The number on the scale doesn't actually matter, what matters is that I feel great!

What prompted you to make a change?

Back in December 2016 I knew I needed to make a change to how I was living my life. I was overweight, unhappy, and was stuck in a cycle of eating my feelings and then feeling angry because I was overeating. Earlier that year, my younger brother got engaged and I turned 30, which were the two primary factors in me wanting to get healthy. I Googled "Philadelphia nutritionists" and OnPoint was the first link that showed up! My life has been changed ever since.

How has your life and health changed since working with OnPoint Nutrition?

It's hard for me to put this into words, but I will try my best: I used to be so hung up on the number on the scale, it ruled my whole life. It either made me feel awful or awesome. When I started this journey, I set a goal weight of 140, and for a long time I held tightly onto that—I wasn't going to be happy until I hit that number. But, especially over the last few months, I've grown to learn that the number doesn't actually matter; what matters is that I feel great, am the healthiest I have been in over a decade, and can appreciate my body for exactly what it is and what it can do. This body can do things I never would have imagined I could do, and I'm amazed by that. And for me, a person whose entire self-worth was wrapped up in my weight and what my body looked like, this has been a HUGE accomplishment. I'm really proud of myself.

What would you tell someone who is thinking about working with OnPoint Nutrition?

There's no reason to feel intimidated, especially because your OnPoint nutritionist will help you SO MUCH along the way. Emily has helped me learn what to eat, how to eat, when to eat, and how to navigate any situation that involves food and drink. I would not have gotten to this point without her!

Are you happy where you are now, or are you still working to change? What are future goals you would like to achieve?

I'm definitely still working on myself, but I am so incredibly happy with my progress. When I originally set out on this program, my goal weight was 140, but now, I'm not so sure. At this point in my journey, I like to measure my success in how I look and feel – how many sizes I've dropped (I've gone from a 12/14 to an 8/10), how many miles I can run without stopping, or how I don't feel sick after eating way too much in one sitting.

What was the hardest part of your journey? How did get through it?

I went through a pretty long plateau period, and that was really hard for me to reconcile. I was doing everything right, but was not seeing the results I wanted on the scale. I really leaned on my nutritionist Emily to help get me through that; she worked with me on recipe ideas, the timing of my eating, and more. She helped me not give up when it would have been very easy to do so.
